Ever since the release of the live-action movie 101 Dalmatians in 1996, Disney has started remaking their classic movies into live-action films. The remakes so far have been 101 Dalmatians (1996), Alice in Wonderland (2010), Maleficent (2014), Cinderella (2015), The Jungle Book (2016), Pete’s Dragon (2016), and Beauty and the Beast (2017). They plan to continue the making of the remaking of Disney classics.

To begin with, Disney found the sales of the live action remakes very profitable. When the remake of 101 Dalmatians came out, the box office sales went through the roof. This amazing movie got over a billion dollars just at the box office. At first, they didn’t know that the live-action remakes would become very profitable. But, when Disney released the live-action twist on Alice in Wonderland in 2010, Disney then realized how much money they were getting out of these types of movies. Alice in Wonderland was a very profitable movie as well as 101 Dalmatians. Disney then decided to continue making these live-action remakes and sometimes adding a little twist to the story. Like how Disney did in Maleficent, they made the original Sleeping Beauty classic into something more different and exciting which audiences loved.

Since then, Disney has been remaking the movies and is planning on more to come in the future. One movie they are remaking is Aladdin. The composer of the film has agreed to come back and write new songs for the remake. They also cast Will Smith to play the Genie, in this upcoming live action film. The movie is scheduled to come out next year on May 24th, 2019. Along with Aladdin, Disney is making The Lion King “come to life.” Disney is planning to make the film similar as to how they made The Jungle Book remake. The cast includes Donald Glover as the voice of Simba, Beyonce voicing Nala, and James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Mufasa. The release date is set for July 19, 2019. Another movie scheduled for a remake is Mulan. Liu Yifei was cast as Mulan out of a 1,000 candidates. Supposedly, Disney cast all the main characters already. The movie is expected sometime in 2019.

All in all, Disney plans to continue remaking the classic movies, from Aladdin to Mulan.  Disney became very profitable with these types of movies will continue in their successful movie-making.
