Recently, there has been a disastrous earthquake in Central Mexico. There was a 7.1 magnitude earthquake Saturday morning near Puebla, Mexico on September 19 . A number of buildings collapsed during the earthquake including a  private school called Enrique Rebsamen that was in session during the earthquake. Now, concerned parents have to find new schools for their children  to attend. The earthquake has killed about 248 people and injured about 1000 people. Many buildings and homes collapsed because of the inadequate structural support. Almost all homes in Mexico are built from clay and mud because people can’t afford to buy strong and reliable supplies to build  their homes.

The earthquake has negatively affected people living near enough to experience the effects. The Red Cross foundation is helping with providing shelter and food. There are hundreds of fundraisers being organized to help people in Mexico recover. The total loss of money from earthquake damage was millions. The streets have been crowded with rescue teams such as the Red Cross Foundation and fireman. Many people have lost their families from the earthquake due to separation or even death. The U.S. sent rescue teams with specialized tools and medical equipment to help the residents affected by the earthquake. Mass confusion followed the disaster because many people were not properly prepared to deal with the after effects.

Fireman and their canines were deployed in areas near the earthquake to help people that were trapped under buildings. These collapsed establishments have contributed to the large amount of  pollution in the air. A negative thing about the earthquake is that many people returned to their homes to find  them destroyed or in horrible condition. While people’s  homes are destroyed, donations, fundraisers, and rescue teams that provide shelter are all that they can rely on. The earthquake was a terrible tragedy and it would be devastating to return to one’s  home and find it destroyed, something that one worked hard to buy, especially if one was very poor.

There were so many losses of family members. Many people had to suffer with the thought that a family member was lost and there was nothing to do about it. The damage  is going to cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, maybe even millions, to help rebuild Mexico and help the people living there recover from all that damage caused by the earthquake. After the severe earthquake, no one will ever forget it.
