The first round of playoffs is a game not to be forgotten. The Portland Trail Blazers fought valiantly, but in the end, the Golden State Warriors’ defensive strength was just too great. With Draymond Green on the Warriors, the tides were against the Trail Blazers. They need to have some of the best defensive strength ever, or they won’t have as many opportunities to make baskets.

The game between the Trail Blazers and the Golden State Warriors started off as any normal game does, with close, low scores. But, there was a difference. The Golden State Warriors had an impressive skill level in defense. It was obvious that the Golden State Warriors were blocking and rebounding much more than the Trail Blazers. As practically all games go, the teams raced back and forth from basket to basket, score after score. During this, the Golden State Warriors, often took the rebound from the Trail Blazers. Then they ran to their side to score another two or three points. The statistics show, as of the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Warriors had outrebounded the Blazers by 14 rebounds! An amazing lead in rebounds. Oddly, the score was still 97 to 90 in the favor of the Golden State Warriors, with a puny difference of 7 points.

Later in the game, Draymond Green shone like a shooting star. His sharp defensive skills definitely came out in full bloom here. He stayed by the basketball and kept assisting those who were shooters as well as taking the ball himself and scoring. When he is at center, the percentage of dunks attempted is the low number of 4.6%! That means he makes them not even want to shoot 95.4% of the time versus the league average, 5.1%, meaning he blocks 1.5% more than the average player! His mind blowing defensive power is part of what pushed the Golden State Warriors over the top to win this round of the finals. Quin G, a student at Kraemer Middle School, stated, “Draymond Green and the Warriors did their best.”

During all of the fourth quarter, he and all of his team performed on cue. Their defense allowed them to receive over 10 points that boosted them to a fairly good lead. The defense and offensive teamwork that Draymond Green and his team had shown made it all the harder on the Trail Blazers, making the game end up with the score 110 to 81. This is a great start for the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference, and luck to them for their games afterward.
