This movie highlights a funny but forgetful blue tang fish named Dory that goes on an adventure to find her long-lost parents. Throughout the movie, Dory and her companions learn more about the true meaning of family. Children love the movie because of the hilarious humor and simple plotline. Kraemer Middle School student Siena P. says, “Finding Dory is a cute movie that is different from those usual children’s movies”.

2. Zootopia

Zootopia is the perfect family friendly movie made for all families. Kids love to watch the movie because of the humor and cuteness of Zootopia. Although Zootopia seems like a simple story to many viewers, the movie has two sides to it. The movie received a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes because of its deep meaning. One message in the movie is that everyone should follow their heart, but there is another message. The hidden message is the way that society sees police officers and there is sign of racial profiling. Everyone in the movie does not appreciate the main character, Judy Hopps, who is a officer.

3. The BFG

Released on July 1, 2016, The BFG was rated as a 75% on Rotten Tomatoes. The BFG revolves around a plotline of a young girl who discovers that a big, friendly giant is walking at night, catching children’s dreams. The girl, Sophie, is not at all scared, but rather interested. She realizes that the BFG is quite friendly and fun to be with. Children love to watch the movie because this movie was a book turned into a movie, so children can easily relate to the movie.

4. Moana

Less than one month ago, this marvelous movie was released to the public and was rated a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. Families with kids enjoy watching this movie because of its beautiful soundtracks, great graphics, and funny characters. Moana features a Polynesian teenager who grows up and must live on the legacy of becoming the next queen of their island. Moana is the next queen of the island, but the Ocean calls to her, seeking her attention. She must find the demigod and save her island from fatigue.

5. The Secret Life of Pets

The Secret Life of Pets is perfect for families with young children because of its humor and adventure that it features. Receiving a 74% on Rotten Tomatoes, The Secret Life of Pets highlights the main character, Max, when he realizes that his owner has added a new pet to their family, Duke. Max grows a hatred towards Duke, probably because he is spoiled and snobbish.

6. Kubo and the Two Strings

Full of adventure and fantasy, Kubo and the Two Strings was released on August 19, 2016. On Rotten Tomatoes, Kubo and the Two Strings received a 97%. A young boy named Kubo must find a magical suit of armor to defeat a spirit. Kubo goes on a quest to defeat the spirit which he accidentally summons. Children love this movie so much because of the adventure and great animations.

7. Pete’s Dragon

An adventure movie, Pete’s Dragon features a young boy named Pete, whose best friend happens to be a dragon. Pete was found in the woods, abandoned by his deceased parents. His mom who took him in learned more about the dragon, and his mom’s father realized who this dragon really was. This movie is loveable by children and was rated an 86% on Rotten Tomatoes because of its cute and simple plotline.

8. Kung Fu Panda 3

Kung Fu Panda 3 was released on January 16, 2016 and rated a 87% on Rotten Tomatoes. Po, the panda in the movie, faces two different dangers: a supernatural and another threat that is near is home. Kung Fu Panda 3 is liked by children because of its mild humor and how it is a sequel of previous Kung Fu Panda movies.

9. Ice Age: Collision Course

Not as popular as some of the other movies, Ice Age: Collision Course received a low rating of 13% on Rotten Tomatoes. The four main characters team up to defeat a meteor strike that may destroy the world. The characters, Manny, Sid, Diego, and Scrat go on adventures while travelling to foreign and exotic lands.  Ice Age: Collision Course is a comedy movie loved by children because of its simple plotline and loveable characters.

10. Fantastic Beasts

Fantastic Beasts hit top-charts with their 75% on Rotten Tomatoes. This movie is a sequel of the Harry Potter Series and is a little harder for younger children to understand because of its deeper concepts. The main character from England visits New York as a young wizard. Inside of his suitcase, there are magical creatures that make the plot take a turn.
