There was a bombing attack on New York City on Saturday, September 17, 2016. The cause of the explosion was supposedly done by the suspect named Ahmad Khan Rahami. Ahmad, a 28 year old male, was born in Afghanistan and came to the United States of America in 1995 and was naturalized as an American citizen in 2011. It is believed that he is the suspect since there has been surveillance footage recovered from the scene. The footage caught him placing a duffle bag with a pressure cooker in it that was set to blow in a populated area. Another reason to believe that he was the culprit is because his family recently argued with police about the shutting down of their fried chicken restaurant, and this could have aggravated him to set off those explosives.
The bomb exploded at 8:30 AM, and it injured 29 people. There was another explosive found in a trash can near the Boston Marathon. Later followed was a shootout on Monday November,19 in New Jersey, involving Ahmad Khan Rahami and police. He was charged on five counts of attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was hospitalized and still refuses to cooperate with police.
Kraemer student Angel L. says “This is an act of terrorism and he should be arrested for the rest of his life.” If he does admit that he had help with the creation with the bombs, the police should only give him a 30-35 year sentence for helping in the case of the bombing.
The police is still in the dark about the details, but the FBI is furthering the investigation with much progress. The trial against Ahmad Khan Rahami has not yet happened. If Ahmad Rahami is working for a bigger branch of terrorists, then we will surely find them.
