Pokémon: Is it Really Just for Kids?

Pokémon has survived since it was first aired in the United States on September 8th, 1998. Now, the question is, “is Pokémon really just for kids?” I believe that Pokémon isn’t just for kids and that it is a fandom that consists of all ages.

Pokémon has been around for 16 years now and many teenagers and people in their 20’s have been watching and playing the different editions in the Pokémon series since they were children. Pokémon may be a cartoon and it may seem a bit childish for the teenager and young adult venue. However, since it has been around for so long now, I believe that teenagers and young adults will still be watching and playing the new editions of Pokémon because it is something that they have been doing since they were a child.

I asked around the Kraemer Middle School campus and I asked teenager Joey P. this question and he said, “I have been playing Pokémon since I was a really little kid and I still play it to this day, so I certainly do not think that it is just for kids.” Joey was not the only person to agree, I asked over 20 other people and a little more than half of them all said that they thought Pokémon was not just for kids. Well, there you have it, there are some people that think Pokémon is just for kids, while many others went the other way in the argument.
