Harry Potter fans have been waiting a long time for a sequel to the films, and they got their wish. Instead of a movie, they got a documentary that showed the cast reuniting on the set for the first time in twenty years. This is a review of the entire documentary.

The reunion began with all of the actors getting a mysterious letter from Hogwarts. It was slightly confusing because they had combined the real world actors with the magic from the movies. They then show all the actors reuniting where they all first met, in the Great Hall of Hogwarts. After that, they bring in all of the directors of all the movies so that they can talk about the casting and the challenges they faced. The cast goes into detail about what they all brought to the table and how they did things similarly and differently. They show a lot of different things after that, like scenes from the movies and share different quotes and their meanings to the separate directors. They showed all of this so that the audience would understand why certain things were the way they were, such as when the fourth movie was just “a time for them to grow up, a coming of age,” the director Mike Newell said. They were just beginning to experience some of their teenage hormones being awkward with girls and boys. To add more pressure, they had a ball where they were required to take a date and this made the movie characters feel like the girls were so unrelatable. This was funny because many students at Kraemer are the same age or around that age and it is so similar to the way teenagers are at this phase.

After talking about each movie, they had short interviews with important or new actors. This added to the understanding because it revealed what was going on inside their heads as these scenes happened. The actors often referred to Alan Rickman who passed away in 2016. To the actors, he was like a leader for the group. The child actors thought he treated them like adults and taught them so much. Even the older actors learned from his acting skills. Alan Rickman largely affected the development of the Harry Potter movies and actors.

The movies went through different styles as each director came and went. This doucmentary helped Harry Potter fans understand what happened behind the lens. It was nostalgic and madefans to read the books and watch the movies again. Fans really loved Harry Potter and recommend watching the movies and reading the books. After reading them it is recommended by other Potter Heads that you go watch the reunion as it explains a lot of what people see on screen.
