New Marvel movies and TV series are coming soon!

Marvel has been a huge establishment for many decades – starting with comics and most recently transitioning into movies and TV shows. The first Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie produced was Iron Man (2008). Many other projects have been released since then, but in the past two years, an overwhelming amount of content has been produced. In 2022, a big year is planned for Marvel.

The first Marvel series of the year being released will be Moon Knight, with the first episode coming out on March 30, 2022. Oscar Isaac plays Marc Spector and alter-ego superhero Moon Knight, a man who gains powers from the Egyptian god of the moon, Khonsu. This causes Marc Spector to gain memories from another life. The show is six episodes set to have its finale on May 4, 2022, with episodes showing on Disney+.

Only two days after the premiere of Moon Knight, Morbius will be the first Marvel movie released in 2022. Dr. Michael Morbius, portrayed by Jared Leto, accidentally turns himself into a living vampire after curing his permanent blood disease. Being 108 minutes long, Morbius is set to release on April 1, 2022. The initial release date was set to be July 10, 2020, but many setbacks have taken place, causing there to be delays for the movie.

On May 6, 2022, one of the year’s most anticipated movies will be released. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be the second Doctor Strange film, with Benedict Cumberbatch portraying the role of Dr. Stephen Strange. Important characters like Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch(Elizabeth Olsen) and Wong(Benedict Wong) will be returning to the MCU. A new character will also be introduced to the MCU: played by Xochitl Gomez, America Chavez will be the first openly LGBTQ character in live-action.

The third Marvel movie being released this year will be Thor: Love and Thunder, releasing on July 8, 2022. This will be the fourth Thor film, with Chris Hemsworth playing Thor, Natalie Portman playing Jane Foster, and Tessa Thompson returning as Valkyrie. Star-Lord – portrayed by Chris Pratt, and Nebula – portrayed by Karen Gillan from The Guardians of the Galaxy, will also return to the MCU for this movie.

The second Marvel TV series of 2022 will be Ms. Marvel. The show stars the first Muslim actor with a lead role, Iman Vellani, as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel. Her superpowers during the series will be shapeshifting and superstrength. The release date for the show is unclear as of now, but it is looking like it will debut in Summer 2022 on Disney+.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be released on November 11, 2022. President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, has firmly stated that T’Challa, previously portrayed by Chadwick Boseman, will not be recast following the tragic passing away of the brilliant actor. It is unclear what will take place during the film, but it is expected that T’Challa’s sister Shuri, portrayed by Letitia Wright, will take on the lead role.

The third and final Marvel TV series on Disney+ of 2022 will be She-Hulk. Mark Ruffalo will return as the Hulk and Bruce Banner, and Tatiana Maslany will portray Jennifer Walters, She-Hulk. Though the release date is unclear for the show, it will most likely debut in 2022.

The final Marvel project for 2022 will be The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Obviously, the special will be released around Christmas time and will be about 40 minutes long. It will take place during Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3, which will release in 2023.

Many unique and exciting Marvel projects will be released in 2022, in the theater and on Disney+. Marvel Studios will have to move on from the old era and begin a new one.
