Johnny may be a college dropout, but he still found success in his life, proving that anything is possible if you work hard enough.
When Johnny was a young little lad, his whole family had to move a lot because of his dad’s job, but when Johnny was seven they moved to Miramar, Florida. Johnny Depp was sixteen when he dropped out of high school, and he did so to pursue his career as a musician in his band. Johnny then left Florida with his band and relocated to Los Angeles. About four years later, he met a woman named Lori Anne Allison who later on became his wife. Lori was a makeup artist. Depp struggled with being a musician, but lucky for him, one of Allison’s friends was an actor named Nicolas Cage. Nicolas arranged an audition for Depp, and after that he made his first movie debut as a teenager in A Nightmare on Elm Street. Even though Allison helped Johnny, he still divorced her the following year, 1985.
In 1987, the premier of 21 Jump Street came, and Johnny Depp was an actor in it. 21 Jump Street was a television police series that starred Depp as Tom Hansen, an officer who goes undercover in high schools and colleges in order to stop troubled kids. Even though the show was a big hit, Depp hated the fact that he had to act as a hot teenage boy. In 1990, he left the show.
Johnny Depp showed his and extents after being in John Waters’s Cry-Baby and Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands, two films by maverick directors. After that, Johnny Depp showed up in many more movies such as Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Johnny Depp continued to showcase his versatility as an actor, from being a 19th century accountant to an FBI agent who infiltrated the mafia.
In 2003, Johnny Depp appeared as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean. This performance in the movie earned him his first ever Academy Award nomination, and the following year he was once again nominated after his performance as Peter Pan in Finding Neverland. After that, Johnny Depp acted as Jack Sparrow once again and at the time the series was one of the highest-grossing films ever.
Depp had a hard time finding love after an incident where he was accused of abusing his wife, which caused a divorce between the both of them. Two years later, The Sun called Depp a “wife beater” and he sued for libel. The trial ended in 2020 when the judge ruled against Johnny and said that Johnny did indeed make his wife fear for her life.
Overall, Johnny Depp is a great actor who showed skill anytime he acted. Because of his tremendous skill, he was able to succeed no matter what happened. Heartbreak, accusations that may or may not be true, or roles he didn’t like, he still kept going.
