Ever since author Rick Riordan got his first-ever book published in 2005, there have been hordes of fans sitting on the edges of their seats, just waiting for his next books to come out. Among these following books are a new series, The Heroes of Olympus. The first book in this ever-popular five-part series is The Lost Hero.

This game-changing novel was published on October 12, 2010, by author Rick Riordan. The company through which Riordan published his book was Disney Hyperion. It later took four more years for the following four books of The Heroes of Olympus series to be published. Prior to this series, Riordan also wrote and published the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series through the same company.

The Lost Hero can be categorized as a fantasy, mythology, and adventure book, focusing on the three main characters, Jason, Piper, and Leo, who must team up to essentially save the world in under four days. All three of them are demigods, meaning that they are the children of a god. In this case, the Roman and Greek gods and goddesses. Although the trio starts off as almost complete strangers to each other, readers have a whole new perspective on both making and deepening friendships by the end of the book. However, this book is an action book at its core when it comes down to it. This unstoppable trio must endure suffering, fighting, and just being heroic in general, day in and day out for four days to free a goddess and save loved ones. Unlike Riordan’s other books, his thrilling adventure-mythology story follows the three main protagonists through the entire quest by seamlessly transitioning points of view every chapter, making cliffhangers and battles seem more complex and dramatic. Overall, the plot and character development is one of a kind and deserves to be recognized.

Fans of Riordan have a lot to say about the series. Most only have good things to say about Rick Riordan’s novel, saying that they are “So happy to finally be back in Rick Riordan’s magical world and cannot wait to continue with this series…” However, no works of literature are perfect. Some avid fans of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series say that there isn’t enough of the prior series, in The Lost Hero. However, even those fans admit, albeit grudgingly, that there is no denying the book is as thrilling and exciting as they can ask for.

Although no book can be perfect, The Lost Hero gets pretty close. Written by Rick Riordan and published in 2010, this fantastic book has won several hard earned awards and keeps readers on the edge of their seats waiting for the next books to come out.
