Cristiano Ronaldo Portuguese soccer player

Cristiano Ronaldo, full name Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, is a Portuguese soccer player. He is a forward and one of the greatest players of his generation. He is the second most paid soccer athlete in the world, closely following Lionel Messi. Like Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo has also led his teams to win multiple league tournaments, championships, and individual awards.

On February 5th, 1985, Ronaldo was born 36 years old in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. He was the last born out of a family of four children. As a child, Cristiano had some surprising nicknames. These included “Little Bee” and “Crybaby.” He was called “Crybaby” because he would often cry to solve most of his problems in soccer. He was also called “Little Bee” because of his speed on the soccer field, which has not changed until this day. Many people know Cristiano Ronaldo as a tall, handsome, athletic soccer powerhouse. This is true, but it might not be if not for Albert Fantrau, one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s childhood friends. Albert was admitted into a  soccer academy when they were still young kids but refused the invite, and Cristiano could go instead. When CR7 (Cristiano Ronaldo) asked Albert why he refused the invite, he said that Ronaldo was better at soccer. If not for Albert’s modest decision, Ronaldo probably wouldn’t have become one of the world’s top soccer players.

Cristiano Ronaldo made his debut in 2002 on the Sporting Clube de Portugal team at age 17. Ronaldo is a formidable 6 feet 1 athlete who used to play as a right-winger but now plays as a forward. He was able to catch the attention of Europe’s biggest soccer clubs after a successful season with Sporting. In 2003, Ronaldo signed a contract with an English soccer powerhouse, Manchester United. His best season was the 2007-08 season when he was able to score 42 League and Cup goals, winning him the Golden Shoe award as one of Europe’s top scorers. In 2008, Ronaldo led his team to a Champions League title and received the Fédération Internationale de Football Association World Player of the Year honors. The following year, in 2009, United once again appeared in the Champions finals but this time, lost to FC Barcelona, Messi’s team. After the loss, Ronaldo transferred to Spain’s Real Madrid team for a then-record 80 million euros transfer fee(about $131 million).

Cristiano Ronaldo is known as one of the best soccer players worldwide. There’s no doubt that that is true. Additionally, he also has amazing pay, second out of all soccer athletes. His friend, Albert Fantrau, and Ronaldo’s own hard work have made him recognized as Lionel Messi’s rival. An amazing soccer athlete with amazing pay, Ronaldo is head to head with Messi in status. Only time can tell who will come out victorious as the true best soccer player.
