The buzz about the new iPhone 13 has been around for a while now, but after its official release, is it really worth it? Apple released the new iPhone 13 on September 17, 2021 and it’s been all the talk. Compared to other models of previous releases, is it really that much better though?

This release has been long awaited, but many people are not sure if it is worth it after seeing it. On the Apple page, many features are listed. First off, it has a unique diagonal camera, compared to the others, which are vertical. The iPhone 13 also features a large battery that allows for up to 20 hours of usage. Similar to previous iPhone models without home buttons, it has 6.1” screen, and 5.4” screen for mini models. Since it includes an ultra wide angle camera, and a sensor shift, many shots will look great, as it will capture a lot of edges and keep the photo steady. The new iPhone 13 also has a new cinematic feature to make great videos that feel like professional movies. In addition, this phone films in Dolby Vision HDR when using the cinematic mode. Because of the ultra wide camera, it will be easy to capture the entire scene without stepping back. The iPhone 13 also introduces photography styles. This allows you to adjust the saturation without the skin tone looking strange. Similar to filters, it allows for people to change the tone of the picture. However, unlike filters, it retains the color on skin tone to prevent it from looking odd. Unlike other phones, the front camera is also very high quality. The front facing camera features cinematic mode, Dolby Vision HDR recordings, Smart HDR 4, and many more impressive features. At last, people can say goodbye to the “Storage Full” message, as the iPhone 13 starts at 128GB and can store all the way up to 1 whole terabyte. For the screen, it uses a Super Retina XDR display, which can display up to 28% brighter than previous models. Finally, the new A15 bionic chip increases performance speed by a lot, and with many more features, such as augmented reality, privacy protection, and power optimization.

Compared to other phones, the iPhone 13 is a big step up, in most cases. However, there isn’t much to change about the iPhone 11 and 12, it isn’t worth it to upgrade. Also, the iPhone 11 and 12 are still in great condition, since they are relatively new. For models below the iPhone 11, it is definitely worth it. The iPhone 13 has a big jump in battery life compared to older models, as well as a much faster chip. For the very old phones that still feature home buttons, the iPhone 13 will feel much faster. In addition, since the iPhone 13 doesn’t have a home button, people can get a widescreen 19.5:9 screen ratio, compared to the 16:9 ratio on the iPhone SE and below.

Overall, the main reasons to buy the new phone are most likely the camera, as well as the battery. It is most definitely worth the upgrade for models below the SE, in part to the many different improvements made. Unfortunately, the iPhone 13 is out of stock nearly everywhere because of the fact that it was underproduced, so it sold out almost instantly.
