Taylor Swift Bio

Taylor Swift, one of the biggest pop stars in the 2010s, is more than what meets the eye. Many people know her for her songs, “Love Story” and “Shake it Off,” but there’s more to her than her songs.

She was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, as Taylor Allison Swift to her parents Scott Kingsly Swift and Andrea Swift, on December 13, 1989. Three years later, her baby brother Austin Kingsley Swift was born. As she grew up on her family’s Christmas tree farm, she started to find her passion in singing and songwriting. At age 11, she sang the national anthem at the Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. Swift taught herself how to play guitar at age 12, as she had started singing the year before. To help her on this endeavor, her family moved to Hendersonville, Tennessee. This led to Taylor being in Nashville, a neighboring city with many country labels for her to pursue. When Scott Borchetta saw Taylor sing in The Bluebird Cafe’, he asked her to sign for Big Machine Records.

Her first song and album were both released in 2006 under Big Machine Records. Her first song, “Tim McGraw,” was a Top 10 hit on the country music charts. Her first album, Taylor Swift, had many popular songs, and “Our Song” became a Number 1 country music hit. This album’s success kicked off Taylor’s career, and it made her popular in country music. The debut album also won the Horizon Award and the Academy of Country Music Award for Top New Female Vocalist.

Moving on, her sophomore album Fearless was an instant hit and topped the country & pop charts for 11 weeks. Her songs Love Story and You belong with me made her the highest-selling country artist in 2008. This album also won Swift’s first Grammy nomination, and CMT wins for the Love Story music video. Her music video for “You Belong With Me” won a VMA for Best Female Video the following year. During her acceptance speech, Kanye West interrupted and said that Beyonce had the best video embarrassing Taylor making her unable to finish her speech. Beyonce apologized by letting Taylor finish her speech when Beyonce won Best Video of the Year later in the show. Taylor also won a Grammy for her album Fearless in 2010, making her the youngest artist to win the award at the time.

Speak Now Taylor’s third album, released in 2010, also had many hit songs and debuted Number 1 on Billboard 200. She followed this successful album with another in 2012, Red. Red had many hits like “We Are Never Getting Back Together,” “22”, and “I Knew You Were Trouble.”

Swift’s success led her to be ranked Forbes magazine’s highest-paid celebrity under 30 in 2012, beating many other successful musicians. Taylor also shared her earnings of about 57 million dollars to help people in Taylor Swift Education Center at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville. Her positive impact on the music industry earned her a CMA Pinnacle award.

Her first full pop album, 1989, released in 2014, was her most successful album. This album had two major songs, “Shake It Off” and “Blank Space,” which were hits along with “Bad Blood.” In the 58th Grammys, she became the first woman to win the Grammy Award for Album of the Year twice.

Her success didn’t come without backlash. Her dating life that was highly publicized, had been hindering her work a lot. She was being called a serial dater as she had dated more than five men in the past years. Her feud with Katy Perry, which may have been the inspiration for the song “Bad Blood,” also hurt her career. Taylor’s assault case in 2013 and copyright lawsuit made her public image horrible. The last straw was when Kanye West used Taylor’s name in one of his songs inappropriately. This caused a lot of drama, with many people taking sides and calling Taylor a snake.

For the next two years, Taylor disappeared from public view. As we later come to find out, she was with her boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, an Australian actor. They both had agreed to keep their relationship private.

Her comeback song “Look What you Made Me Do” got 19 million views on Youtube. The song was later a part of Swift’s comeback album reputation. The whole album was based around the image of a snake. This was a homage to her being called a snake earlier in her career. Reputation also marked her first full stadium tour. This album also got the Favorite Pop/Rock Album at the AMAs and Top Selling Album at the Billboard Music Awards.

Her next album differed significantly from her former album. Lover is based on love and happiness, making this her most lovey album. This album debuted with the hit single “ME!”.  Lover was also the only album that sold 1 million copies in 2019. This album was also her first with a new label. Speaking of labels, her old label had sold her albums to her longtime enemy Scooter Braun. This led to her re-recording her albums. Her first re-recording was “Love Story” in 2021; then, she released Fearless(Taylors Version). These albums contain songs that weren’t in the original album called vault songs.

Swift released a documentary called “Miss Americana” in 2020, talking about her personal life. Her album folklore, released in early 2020, won Album of the Year at the Grammys, making it her third album to win this award. This album took an indie theme and was debuted by “cardigan.” Her next album evermore also took the indie theme and is called folklore’s sister album.

With all this success, Taylor Swift is also a down-to-earth person and loves her fans. All in all, Taylor has a very amazing career.
