Disney’s new cruise ship, Disney Wish, will make its debut in the summer of 2022

On August 23, 2020, at the D23 Expo, in Anaheim, California, Disney’s fifth cruise ship, the Disney Wish, was announced. It was planned to set sail in early 2022 but was pushed back to summer 2022 due to the pandemic.

Here’s an overview of what it is for those who haven’t heard about the Disney Cruise Line. Going on a Disney cruise is different than any other cruise there is. It’s tailored for both families with kids or adventurous adults. Cruisers can have a pool party at the top deck, watch a movie at the free movie theatre, or get a massage at the spa. Every Disney Cruise ship is divided into sections where kids, teens, or adults can hang out on their own. However, the best part is that from the moment a traveler sets foot on the ship, all food is free. That means if anyone wants pizza by the pool, a slice of cheesecake by the arcade, a bag of popcorn at the theatre, or a salad at the buffet, it’s all free. Not only that, but there’s 24-hour room service, also included.

Over time, more and more details have been released on the Disney Wish, including Cinderella’s golden statue by the main entrance. Also, Rapunzel will be painted on the back of the Cruise. The cruise ship measures 1,119 feet, or 341 meters, in length.  That means this will be the biggest cruise ship ever made by Disney! This also means it can hold 2,000+ passengers!

So many people are ecstatic about this new Disney Cruise Ship because of the number of things to do on a Disney Cruise Ship. Some things that all ships have are Shops, like Sea Treasures. Some shops also have exclusive items that can’t be purchased anywhere else, like a Disney Cruise logo inspired necklace at Tiffany & Co. Also, in every ship in the Disney Cruise Line is the “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique,” where kids can get Star Wars, Pirate or Fairytale themed makeovers.

The Disney Wish is scheduled to take its maiden voyage on a transatlantic route. It will depart from Dover, England, and set sail to New York, New York. Along the way, it will make stops at Spain, Bermuda, and King’s Wharf.

The Disney Cruise Line website states that travelers can book to be aboard the Disney Wish Cruise Ship in early 2022 since it will begin to start taking passengers by the summer of the same year. The sources used were the Disney Cruise Website and the Cruisemapper website.
