The Denver Nuggets have been nothing but good in the playoffs with a mediocre superstar team. They have made it to the conference finals twice in two years and also beat the Clippers in the playoffs, who were supposed to face the Lakers in the conference finals. The Nuggets fell short to the Los Angeles Lakers but still put up a good fight.
The Nuggets have some key players who have helped them play very well in the playoffs. Their main guy is Nikolia Yokic who is their all-star center who is very consistent in the playoffs. Their other star is Jamal Murray who has never made it on to the all-star team yet but is progressing on his way. Besides, they also have small forward, Michael Porter Jr., who makes a great defensive contribution to the team.
The Nuggets haven’t always been the best playoff team. They have only been to the conference finals 4 times, as known in their team’s history, and have never been to the NBA finals. Only recently they started doing good because of Jamal Murray and the Jokic duo. With Jamal Murray’s young talent and high points per game, and Jokic’s great size and good defense, they have been striving well towards their goal.
The only obstacle the Nuggets struggle to overcome is to win in the conference finals. In the 2018 – 2019 season, they didn’t make it because they lost to the Trailblazers in the semifinals. This year they lost to the Lakers, who are arguably the best team in the league. The matchup between Anthony Davis and Jokic was pretty unfair because Anthony Davis had a lot more experience with better players, unlike Jokic. The only part where the Nuggets have an advantage is the point guard position. The Lakers are pretty weak at point guard having only Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley. Jamal Murray can dominate as the point guard against these two players because of his speed and versatility. Rajon Rondo is an older player, so he is a lot slower than Jamal Murray, who is very young and can run the ball for long periods of time.
The Denver Nuggets are a very good team with a lot of room for improvement and many great accomplishments to come. If they continue building up their best players and make a team around them, they can win a championship as soon as 2 years, depending on the depth of the team.
