Top 5 Fast Food Restaurants in the U.S.

In today’s society, Americans are in love with the delicious greasy finger foods that everyone calls fast-food. There are many different restaurants that are associated with this title and the top include McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Subway, Chick-fil-a, Wendy’s, but there are so many more. The convenience and price are two of the many reasons why people are in love with these chains.

In the last place for the top five fast-food restaurants is Chick-fil-a, home to the original chicken sandwich. Chick-fil-A’s menu has a wide variety of foods ranging from a Super-salad to a Spicy Chicken Sandwich. This restaurant has a meaning to its name, Chick-fil meaning the chicken sandwiches and A meaning “grade A” quality of meat and all food. Chick-fil-A is the largest buyer of peanut oil, and even though they use a peanut product, they take out all the ingredients that trigger a peanut reaction. This fast-food restaurant took in about a total of 10 billion dollars which means about 4.1 million dollars at every one of its locations. These numbers place Chick-fil-A in fifth place in the competition for the top 5 fast-food restaurants.

In fourth place, Taco Bell, known for the whimsical, American twist on Mexican-inspired food. Taco Bell is often compared to Del Taco and although the two fast-food chains are very similar there are slight differences that put one ahead of the other. Taco Bell’s menu, although it’s more whimsical, is less money compared to other fast-food chains. Taco Bell received its name through the owner, Glen Bell. After opening his first Mexican-inspired restaurant, Glen named it Taco Bell. The very first Taco Bell that opened featured fire pits, 19 cent tacos, mariachi bands, and more. The original menu consisted of many items that were created and discontinued in a short amount of time, including the Chiliburger, the Black Jack Taco, and the Beefy Crunchy Burrito. With a total income of 10.3 billion dollars, each of the 6,588 locations earned about 1.6 million dollars.

With over 24,000 locations in 110 countries, the fast-food chain in third place is Subway. When in need of a certain taste in a sandwich, Subway has it ready, just waiting for the person to say the right words. Every minute over 5300 sandwiches are being made from the 38 million combinations off of the menu and off. Back in 1965, a boy only 17-years-old started this fast-food chain off of a 1000 dollar loan from a friend. Along with creating the best sandwiches ever, the restaurant hosted a fashion show in 2013 and featured Subway-inspired designs. Subway brought in a total of 10.8 billion dollars which means about 420,000  dollars at each of its over 24,798 locations.

Everyone knows the number one coffee retailer, Starbucks, which falls in second place. Many people think that Starbucks is not a fast-food restaurant, but each of the locations consists of the normal items in a fast-food restaurant, such as food, drinks, tables, wifi, a drive-thru, and more. The first Starbucks location was and still is in Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington. There are a lot of rules for the employees including a dress code, certain smells are not allowed, colored hair is not allowed, all piercings have to stay small, etc. In total, the 14,825 cafes accumulated about 10.8 billion dollars which is about 1.3 million dollars at each location.

With a total sales of 38.5 billion dollars and about 2.7 million dollars at each of its 13,914 locations, in the first place, America’s favorite fast-food restaurant and chain, McDonald’s. There have been many items on the menu that have come and gone throughout the years of the existence of McDonald’s. Some of the interesting items are peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, pizza, spaghetti, hot dogs and the special Szechuan Sauce. There was actually a TV series called The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald that did very well but was discontinued a long time ago. Certain countries in the world ban McDonald’s. A few include Bermuda, Iran, and North Korea. The numbers above, price, and the menu is what put McDonald’s in first place.
