James Harden, also known as “The Beard”, is a 30-year-old professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA) He is currently playing for the Houston Rockets. He is known for his stellar skill to score high points that help his team in crucial matches and is one of the best shooting guards the NBA has sever had. Harden is also the person who signed the richest contract extension in NBA history. The deal was worth a guaranteed  total six-year deal of $228 million and was named NBA MVP for the 2014-2015 and 2017-2018 seasons.

In his childhood, he loved to play basketball in which led for him to play for his high school. Harden then continued to play in college where he led most of his matches to victory and was scouted for the 2009 NBA Draft. This led him to being  third overall pick for the Oklahoma City Thunder. During that season, Harden became the fourth-placing 3-point scorer under the age of 21 in the NBA. In the same year, he scored a season-high of 26 points against the Golden State Warriors and was named to the NBA-All-Rookie second team. From there, James went on to become an essential part of the team and won several awards such as the NBA Sixth Man of the Year and NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

Later in 2012, Harden signed with the Houston Rockets and is still keeping up with amazing statistics and plays. In 2014, he was named MVP for scoring 50 points in a game twice in one season. This made him the first NBA basketball player to ever do so. James also signed a contract with Nike, and later did one with Adidas in 2015. Throughout his career, he was a six-time NBA All-Star and a five-time All-NBA-Team honouree. Not only is he known with is a skill and ability to win and carry his team to victory, but is also recognizable through his trademark beard, that is known to all basketball fans in America.

Besides NBA, Harden was also part of the USA national basketball team that won a gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics. Not only that, he was a member of the US basketball team that won the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup. Harden is the youngest of three children and is a devout Christian. He intentionally does not shave his beard since 2009, and as a result, his beard have appeared in shirts as well as songs. 

Harden will become the face of the Houston Rockets in the next seasons. He lives up to his name or names, as his nicknames include Step Daddy and No D Harden. However, The Beard is the most well known title given to James Harden, as it continues to show skill and talent in the name itself.
