Lakers have ended the 2018-2019 season poorly with a record of 37-45 in 10th place of the western conference. Even though the Western Conference is very stacked, the Lakers had Lebron, who is a big anchor for the team. He carried the Cavaliers to the finals in the 2017-2018 season with bad teammates, but couldn’t lead the Lakers to the playoffs. This year, everything can change for the Lakers, and they might win a championship again after ten years. Here are some big moves the Lakers made during the offseason.
The biggest trade that happened for the Lakers was between the Pelicans. Lakers got “The Brow”, also known as Anthony Davis joined the Lakers because he believed that he and Lebron had a great potential together and would win championships like they are nothing. Davis said that “I thought he was great from the beginning of the game, just his offset on the offensive end just to be able to get us extra possessions with rebounding. Knocking down shots.” This trade was so effective for the Lakers because Lebron and Anthony Davis’s skills would work best with each other. Lebron was a tall and strong player who could play any position and could do anything pretty much. Anthony Davis is a strong player in the paint and will dunk anything down without any fear. With Lebron’s passing and dribbling skills and Anthony Davis’s strong arms that aren’t scared of anyone, this duo could be one of the top duos of all time.
Another correct decision that the Lakers had made was waiving their entire team besides Kyle Kuzma and Lebron. The Lakers team was very young and inexperienced with players that were weak in every component of the game. Lakers had Lonzo Ball, who could not shoot like a point guard and had too much pressure from his dad. They also had Brandon Ingram, who was a very big ball hog and couldn’t get along with the amazing Lebron James. The rest of their team was unknown and had players that no one wanted on their team. Kyle Kuzma was the only good rookie on that team who knew how to play the game and knew who to pass it to or when to shoot. He was averaging 18.7 points per game, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists, which are big numbers that help the team greatly. Lebron James was averaging 27.4 points per game, 8.5 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game as expected. That is almost a triple-double a game, which is very difficult to do and shows how much you do for the team. Other people like Lonzo Ball only averaged 9.9 points per game, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.5 assists. These stats aren’t bad, but the Lakers didn’t want someone who’s dad doesn’t stop talking. They got players such as Anthony Davis, Kentavious-Caldwell Pope, Demarcus Cousins, Dwight Howard, Danny Green, and more who make a very big impact on any team they are on.
Overall, the Lakers made amazing trades and signings and will win the 2020 championship.
