Recently, on April 23, 2019, one of history’s most heroic basket was shot by no other than the one and only Damian Lillard. It was game 5 in round 1 of the 2019 NBA Playoffs. The game was tied 115-115 with 10 seconds left. Instead of creating a play, Damian trusted his instincts and started dribbling at half court. With Paul George playing good defense, there was no way he could get a good look at the basket, let alone make the shot. As the ball went up, everyone rose to their feet. 3..2..1, it’s good! The Blazers win the series and send the Oklahoma City Thunder back home. It was a heroic win for the Trailblazer carry, Damian Lillard. Knocking down a very impressive and mind-blowing 37 footer stepback shot to win the game was insane. With this win, the Blazers would go up against the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference, the Denver Nuggets.

With the Blazers winning this series, it got people thinking, “Shouldn’t that series been a lot closer and more exciting?” Believe it or not, the Oklahoma City Thunder were favored to win that series. The Trailblazers are an amazing team, but it is only their backcourt that they have a strong core. Their stars are C.J McCollum and Damian Lillard. The Oklahoma City Thunder are packed with a good balance of skilled players that have potential. The Thunder’s strong core consists of Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and the underrated big man, Steven Adams. The Thunder left the city of Portland with a lost series, and they beat the Trailblazers once. The Blazers beat the Thunder in the first round with a historic buzzer beater that left audiences in shock. They ended up beating the Thunder 4-1 in the series.

It boggles audiences’ minds that OKC was this easy to knock out in the playoffs and that it wasn’t a tougher matchup for the Blazers. The Oklahoma City Thunder are one of the best teams in the entire NBA that have one of the strongest cores right behind the Golden State Warriors and the Philadelphia 76ers. Now as the Oklahoma City Thunder go back home and prepare for the upcoming season, it will be interesting to see what else the NBA Playoffs have in store for their basketball fans.
