     From fresh sourdough bread bowls to steaming hot dim sum San Francisco offers a little for everyone. Within its 49 square miles, it packs in many delicious restaurants and whole in the wall shops. San Francisco is located on the East Coast of California, along the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. Many people visit it for its cable cars, Golden Gate Bridge, and mouth watering food. Three foods to try in San Francisco is clam chowders in sourdough bread bowls, Ghirardelli chocolate, and seafood from Fisherman’s Wharf. 

 One of the most iconic food that everyone tries while in San Francisco are clam chowder in freshly baked sourdough bread bowls from Boudin Bakery & Cafe. Boudin Bakery, located on Fisherman’s Wharf, has been making bread since 1848 and has attracted tourist from all around the world. The lactobacillus sanfranciscensis, lactic acid yeast, in the bread gives it the iconic sourdough flavor and it strives in San Francisco’s climate. Boudin Bakery is one of the oldest buildings and helped the city grow. Many immigrants from Europe settled in because they were home sick from the mother dough. Boudin did face a challenge in 1906, when an earthquake hit San Francisco, causing fires to destroy over 80 percent of the city. However, Louis Boudin was able to save the business and open a location on Fisherman’s Wharf. Now, there are three Boudin buildings on Fisherman’s Wharf, Boudin Bakery & Cafe, Boudin Bistro, and Boudin Museum. The clam chowder is make daily and gets fresh crab from fishers every morning, Boudin  also offers overs soups in bread bowls depending on the day. When visiting San Francisco, Boudin is a must have place to go. 

Another of the most famous places in San Francisco is the Ghirardelli Square. This was the original location from the Ghirardelli family in the 1800s. Now, the chocolate factory is surrounded by shops and has an extraordinary views of the bay. Lines could be out the door, but don’t worry, it moves fast.  The chocolate still have the original, mouth watering chocolate flavor and is a trend setter for the rest of the world. Ghirardelli was also granted National Historic Register, which means it will be preserved for many future chocolate lovers. At Ghirardelli square, it offers many different desserts, from a warm brownie hot fudge sundae to a refreshing raspberry sorbet. Tourist can also buy bars of their famous chocolate recipe. When coming to San Francisco, Ghirardelli Chocolate Square is a place to get delicious desserts and offers a little for everyone.

Lastly, when going to San Francisco, tourist should try the freshly caught seafood at Fisherman’s Wharf. Fisherman’s Wharf is one of San Francisco’s best tourist attractions and is home to make whole in the wall shops, along with well know areas. There are many street vendors along the streets who sell clam chowder, lobster rolls, calamari, etc. Some restaurants on the Wharf have been open since the 1930s and have kept the recipe ever since. On Fisherman’s Wharf, people can also enjoy the amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Pier 39, and Pacific Ocean, while eating the freshest seafood in San Francisco.

San Francisco is hands down one of the best places to visit for the freshest seafood and world famous Ghirardelli chocolate. People can admire the stunning views while enjoying delicious food and exploring shops along Fisherman’s Wharf. These were only three of foods everyone should try while going to San Francisco.
